Who can get it?
- Only for families in England, Wales and Northern Ireland
- For your first baby, or if you're expecting twins or more
- You or your partner need Universal Credit or a similar benefit
How to claim
Post a paper formAsk your midwife
- 1Check you or your partner get a qualifying benefit, such as Universal Credit, Pension Credit, Income Support, income-based JSA or income-related ESA.
- 2Download and fill in form SF100. There's no online form.
- 3Get evidence from your midwife or doctor: a MATB1 certificate or a signed statement.
- 4Post both to 'Freepost DWP SSMG'. You don't need a stamp or postcode. A decision comes within 28 days.
Have these ready
- Form SF100
- MATB1 certificate (from 20 weeks) or a midwife's statement
- National Insurance number
- Proof of qualifying benefit
